This week I’ve had the chance to take pictures of a lot of family. The trees and leaves have made a beautiful background. Sunday I made everyone pose for their Christmas picture.
I’m pushy like that.
Think they’ll mind seeing their faces on my blog? Hello family! What do you expect from free photography? Privacy?
I love this brother and sister shot. Little brother did not want to be held back.
And look at that little noggin smashed in between her brother and sister. Are you loving that boys dimples?
My mom and step-father.
Aunt and uncle.
Cousin and her husband.
Have you done your family Christmas photo? I hate to be a nag, but time’s wasting. Do you usually send out a family Christmas photo, a letter, just a card? Please don’t say just a card. At least send a picture of your dog. Come on, take some family photos. It’s just so much fun.

Yes, mine are waiting be addressed. I am sending them out early, just before Thanksgiving so people have our new address. Hopefully we will get a few Christmas cards! ;-)
PS, the pictures you took are lovely. Did you use your prime lens? I think I might be wanting one of those.
Good thing you pushed to them to do it because the photos are so nice. I know they didn't regret doing that. You have a lovely family. Thank you for sharing these photos.
Beautiful photos, Melissa! And wow, what a gorgeous backdrop.
No Christmas picture yet, but at least I've been thinking about it already. I have some ideas in my head but have been distracted with some friend emergencies to give it more thought.
I wish you were here to take a pic of us! 'twould be easier than using the remote. And a ton more fun!
I did cards back in the old days, got stressed out and then stopped for many a year. Then this past year I did a picture postcard.
I'll probably do photocards from mpix.com this year. Or maybe I should go with a regular card and a photo inserted (better for framing or sticking on the fridge). Decisions, decisions.
I just had our pictures taken by a friend of mine. It turned out nicely. I am making our Christmas cards this year and I'm starting them on Monday. The clock IS ticking. Nice pictures.
We will be doing our family picture in a couple of weeks! We find out for sure what we are having on the 19th and we'll make the announcement in Christmas cards. I'll be attempting to take the pic myself since we don't want the news out before the cards, but might need help in editing. Interested???? :)
Your pics are gorgeous! I need to read back up on your tutorial and I need to get my manual out. I have such a hard time with the ISO.
Started planning ours yesterday. We are going with a blue snowflake theme. Got a beautiful blue dress for our little crumb yesterday at Target. Building everyone's clothes off of that.
We will see how it goes. With 5 kids from age 12-3. Hope the photographer can make it through!
Take care,
Amy

Fabulous photos!!! No Christmas photo yet. Working on it. Our tradition is to find an old church in our surrounding area hopefully with interesting architectural detail! I need to be nagged!!!
Oh, my. Could you come and do our Christmas photos? These are gorgeous- I love the one of the three- that middle noggin is precious! Nice work! xo
So beautiful! Are the people in your family all lovely?
I usually send out handmade cards.. but last year we just went the picture route. This year I have a crazy idea to send a 4x6 picture as a postcard. But, of course my never stopping mind thinks...can I possibly make a envelope for the postcard so that I can personalize the back of the photo...? Who know what I will do.
You are smart for taking wonderful pictures for Christmas now.... I should do that!
You take wonderful pictures & I thank you for the inspiration.
I am going to start your "using your camera" tutorial!
The thing I love the most is how close you are with your family.
Yeah, those colors are a great background!
And I do love those dimples.
But I love that little gal in the middle of those two the best!
Thank you for sharing such great pictures.
We are heading to the mountains next weekend for some R-n-R and I hope to take out picture at that time.
I don't have one of those little clicker things so for me it is just press the button and run. It makes for a funny picture.

Love that first shot! So, so, cute!!
We've never done a Christmas photo, or any holiday photo for that matter, shame on us!
One of these days, or years...
Enjoy them-

"taking family photos is fun." liar. haven't you read your next post yet? :-)
marianne, i think all my family is beautiful! :)
i'd love to take all of your family photos. i really do enjoy it.
We JUST had our Christmas photo taken TONIGHT at a studio (Portrait Innovations). We made the mistake too many times of waiting until early/mid December and that craziness is just not fun, so now we aim for the 1st week of November!
I would love to do an outdoor photo shoot one day - they are so beautiful with the natural light, etc.
I send out a picture or photo card from a studio, and a Christmas letter every year. Wanted to start my letter tonight but am having writers block.
I agree - everyone should toss a picture inside the card! Makes unwrapping the present (card/letter) all the sweeter!
They're all beautiful! (The pictures AND the people! Lol!) What a gift to be able to give!
So, not only are you a homeschooling mom, but also a professional photographer! Wow!
Ok, I don't know if you get paid...but you are a pro!
