I love to vacation in the fall. The weather has cooled down and the scenery is outstanding. I always am ready to take a drive somewhere and do something fun with the kids by this time of year.
But this year, we’re not going to get to do that. Rain (and more rain), booked weekends and one bad little rider (cough Tess cough) all added up to no trip.
Instead, I’ve tried to take in the beauty in my own back yard, when it’s not raining. It turns out there’s a lot to see right here at home.
A couple of red maples make the biggest show, but the old oaks in the front hold their own with their huge, dark limbs against yellows and golds.
Is it beautiful where you live?

yes it is, and surprisingly we have quite a lot of colors too. I am loving driving through my new neighborhood. It is so much prettier than the old one. I love the colors. Although my pictures don't seem to be as vibrant as yours. I need to work on that. I took a million pictures of the tree in my front yard, all in different settings, but couldn't tell the difference between them at all except the black and white one.
It's always beautiful here...and the leaves are just slightly starting to turn.

Not anymore....the leaves are all down and snow is on the ground, but not enough to be pretty yet. That will most definitely come, though. *Love* your trees, gorgeous! And, I wanted you to know yesterday didn't get up above 25-yikes! that's cold!! I thought of you when I just couldn't get warm :)
Fall is such a lovely time of year. So many rich earthy colors!! Your pictures make me want to go outside and drink in the beauty!!!
I have hopes that it will be beautiful tomorrow! Right now, it's just rain rain rain... falling leaves without the pretty brushes of fire on them. So they basically look like dirty dots littering my yard.
But tomorrow... maybe we'll have sun and fiery hues tomorrow.
Love the old oaks!
Beautiful photos! Yes, we've had beautiful fall colors for awhile here now. I love it. I pulled the curtains back a little bit more in my kitchen window just to get a better glimpse of them throughout my day!
LOVELY PHOTOS! and blog, I'm following!
It is most definitely beautiful here. I live just west of Portland, OR close to the coastal mountains. It's gorgeous. We have lots of tree lined streets and this is the most perfect time. The colors are AMAZING!
Hi! I just found your blog a few days ago, linked from somewhere I can't remember right now. I've enjoyed looking through your blog a little; you're a great photographer! I've just been realizing my own passion for photography the past year or so, and am still trying to figure out the manual settings on my (not-that-great) camera!
I live in MI, and we've had a mostly cold, cloudy and rainy Fall. But I did manage to get some photos on a couple of dry days just in time before the next rainstorm took most of the leaves down. I just posted some pictures if you want to pop over and see some fall colors in MI!
your fall photos are beautiful! and yes... it is beautiful here too. only no colored leaves... just the green kind. and they are still sweating on the trees. oh fall... come soon!
I love the fall pictures. It makes me want to visit Arkansas.
