This was Milo's first time and he loved all the balls.

Everyone had a great time and we have agreed we must do it more often, even as just a family outing.

Clark helped Milo bowl and he loved it, and did fairly well for a 3 year old. He's such a boy. I'm sure Clark appreciates that Milo did not inherit my bowling skills, and for that matter, my mad hoola-hooping skills which Clark considers to be a very sissy sport and not worth learning. (Only because he can't do it. Shhh)

Here's a picture of me and my friends. Well, of our ugly, rented bowling shoes. Mine have the red laces. I'm a rebel.

Clark is the only one in this family with any real bowling talent. He's good at almost everything and he's highly competitive, while the only athletic event I'll ever win in would be hoola-hooping. Does your family enjoy bowling, or do you prefer the hoola-hoop?

We love bowling! Dozer can even recognize every single bowling alley that we might venture to pass by.
We get a discount for homeschoolers every Thursday at the bowling alley from 10am-4pm. It's only $1 per person per game (including shoes!). Isn't that a steal? I'm telling you, it is one of the biggest perks (in my opinion) of our local homeschool support group!
I have to say the bowling alleys would be our pick (& Putt-Putt Golf comes in a close 2nd - very nerdy, I know, but fun, and great to do together and with friends for a good laugh, not that we do this oftne enough...). I was thinking maybe you need to request they put the bumpers on the sides to keep the ball in the lane for you. You'd get a sense of achievement that way!!! (hehe) Naomi
I have very mixed feelings on bowling. My biggest issue is getting past the shoes.... ew.
Somehow I managed to stand it for a whole semester as a took bowling for my PE credit. A real work-out I tell ya. But at least now I can get a semi-decent score (even if it is the lowest one, lol). But I probably haven't bowled in 3 or 4 years!
I couldn't hula-hoop if my life depended on it, but I bet my mom could. My Dad was a trophy-winning bowler when he was in the Air Force, and he could probably do a fair job at it now, but it's been ages since we went bowling.
However, I do bowl a mean game on my Wii. ;)
I hate bowling. Seriously. If my husband got me bowling, it'd be because he got me a present and I felt guilty.
BUT...I had a birthday party at a bowling alley before and it was one of the best b-day parties ever. Very fun.
I can't hula hoop or bowl. How lame am I???
Well, to be perfectly honest...I got 2nd in our Senior Party Hula Hoop contest. So I wasn't THAT bad. :)
We keep meaning to plan a family bowling night but ARGH, have never managed it!
Alright, now I really will.
I absolutely stink at bowling, but my kids love it so I'll go for their sake and, like you, enjoy the time just being together and having fun. We actually haven't been bowling a long time. Maybe we'll have to plan a family bowling night.
As far as hula-hooping, well, I used to be able to do it pretty well, back in the day, but these days not so much.
We recently re-discovered the fun of bowling, as well. Our kids (4 and 6) absolutely LOVED it. It helped tremendously that the bowling alley had bumpers and a ramp for them.
And while I'm no champ at bowling, I think I would do better at this than at hoola-hooping.
The shoes are such a fashion statement.
We love to bowl. Its always good for the whole family... some of more than others need the bumper guard.
